Family portrait photography is a creative and artistic craft. It is so much more than being able to snap a camera. The beautiful thing about family photography, is every photographer has their own unique style (or they should). It is how a photographer uses a camera and their style to interact with the the people in front of the camera that will be the key ingredients to making awesome family portraits. it is about getting "the look;" about getting a genuine expression in personality.

My job is looking for the angles, shapes and composition and then making people feel relaxed, comfortable and confident in front of the camera. For me, it is about bringing some fun, making things relaxed and keeping a free flowing process in the art of making portraits.

What is Lifestyle Family Photography? It is the same as Lifestyle Photography but often with a twist when kids are involved. Blending family pictures together rather than trying for the one perfect shot. It is more about a story of images rather than a single family portrait. For me, it is about capturing the natural. Capturing the personalities in a candid moment.

From the beginning of my photography career, I have always photographed in a lifestyle process. Even before lifestyle photography became a buzz word. It was and still is how I connect and capture families. It is fun and often chaotic process when kids are involved and I love it. From the outside looking in, it can look unplanned, unscripted and unorganized. Add all of these ingredients together and you get candid, natural looking family pictures. Family photos that are that are full of life and true to the personalities that are in them. That is exactly what family lifestyle photography is. It is you and your family in the everyday.
