Fort Fisher is an iconic Civil War landmark. It is now a popular destination on the eastern coastline that makes for great family & portrait photography. In one general location I can photograph an engagement or bridal session and make it look like we shot the session in 3-4 different locations.

The ocean front is unique to the parts of the local coastline. Where other beaches limit the angles to sand and water (which is not a bad thing), Fort Fisher is a 360 degree environment. I also love the rocks. They bring in another level of depth and dimension to beach pictures. Another great aspect of the beach pictures is the ability to photograph from an elevated level which adds a really great perspective and creativity to photo sessions.

Probably the most unique part of Fort Fisher is the grove of oak trees. The trees make for really different looks, compared to the beach & ocean. The classic southern look of the oak trees really brings a different theme from the beach that is only a about 100 yards away. In addition to the ocean, beach, fields and trees, you are also a short walk away from the Cape Fear River. This works out great, especially at sunset, as you can get the sun setting over the over the Cape Fear River that makes for incredible golden hour photography.
